Are You Resting Your Feet?

During this love-filled month, one way to love your feet is to let them rest. That’s right — give them a break. Your feet have an important job each day, as they help you move from one place to the next. As part of your appreciation, the team at Westfield Foot and Ankle, LLC, has a few tips to share that can be repeated throughout the year. Rest is an important part of our lives that provides time for relaxation and recovery. Don’t forget to include your feet.

Kick up your feet

Whether it’s after a long day of work or a little relaxation time while watching your favorite show, kick up your feet. If you’ve been sitting at a desk all day, this position is a nice departure from the 9 to 5 routine. Take off your socks and shoes, and let your toes wiggle free.

Soak and sit

If you’re not a fan of going out to a nail salon for a little bit of TLC for your feet, you can begin relaxation in the comfort of your home. Soak your feet with soapy, warm water, and relax. Be sure to moisturize your feet after your soaking session. Remember, paying attention to your feet is a great part of foot hygiene. If you prefer to visit a nail salon, review their safety standards.

Shoe care

What’s one way to comfort your feet throughout the day? Wearing proper shoes and having the right amount of support. While it’s normal to want to free your toes as you enter the house, it should not be because of pain or discomfort. If you think your shoes are too tight, you’re probably right. If you have diabetes, you may need special shoes. Check out custom orthotics and how they can help.

Looking for other ways to rest your feet? We can help. For patients in Westfield, IN, or the Hamilton County area, schedule a visit or contact us at (317) 896-6655 to make an appointment with Dr. David Sullivan, a Certified Wound Specialist.
